Business in Indonesia
Indonesia is a semi-industrialized country with a population of 250 million. It is a huge market for many kinds of products and services.
The country is part of 10 Southeast Asian countries which have established a common market with almost 500 million inhabitants. The market called Asean Free Trade Area (AFTA) is regulating the Common Effective Preferential Tariffs (CEPT) that enables member countries to avoid tariff barriers among them.

Indonesia-Uganda Networking:
In October 2006, H.E. Mr. Dismujun Kasri, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Uganda, resident is Nairobi together with Indonesia Diplomats and Indonesia Business men from Indonesia visited Uganda in October 2006 and participated in the 2006 Uganda International Trade Fair. About 26 companies were represented> This was the first time Indonesia participated in such a large number.
Several Industries were represented such as Convectionary, garment, food and dairy products, food machine, handicraft, rattan. Furniture and office furniture. This unprecedented move was aimed at enhancing trade links and building a network between Indonesian Companies and the business community in the region.
Visa Requirements for Indonesia:
The application is made by filling out appropriate application forms - available from the Consulates - and by attaching supporting documents
The passport submitted has to have at least six (6) months of validity at the proposed date of entry into Indonesia.
- Application form filled in duplicate.
- 2 Passport size photographs.
- Bank statement /letter of sponsor in Indonesia.
- Yellow Vaccination Card.
- Letter from your employer and his contact details.
- Letter of invitation from Indonesia or Confirmation of Hotel reservation.
- Flight reservation Slip indicating port of entry into Indonesia.
Visa Fees:
Single Visa - 45USD Valid 90 days
Multiple Visa - 100USD Valid 1 year
Transit Visa - 20USD Valid 14 days
Processing of visa starts when all requirements have been provided. Travellers are required to send in their requirements at least ONE WEEK prior to traveling to avoid delays in their travel plans.

Visit Indonesia – The Ultimate in Diversity
Indonesia is composed of 17,508 islands to be precise, spread in an area between the Asian continent and Australia.
Climate:
There are two discernible seasons in Indonesia: the dry season, which extends from June to October, and the rainy season, which lasts from November to March. Both are hot. The coastal regions, however, are often cool, and in the mountains the air is often chilly.
Cultural:
The country is stunningly rich in kinds of arts and craft. Skill and creativity of Balinese artisans have been popular worldwide. So have craftsmen and artisans of woodcarving from Jepara, Central Java and West Sumatra, cloth weaving from East Nusa Tenggara and Palembang, batik cloth from Solo (Central Java), Yogyakarta, Cirebon (West Java), Pekalongan (Central Java), Madura (East Java) etc. In many places in the country, artistry has been a daily life.
Geographical Features:
The territory of the Republic of Indonesia stretches from 6°8´ north latitude to 11°15´ south latitude and from 94°45´ to 141°65´ east longitude. Its estimated total area is 9.8 million sq km (including Exclusive Economic Zone – EEZ), which consists of a land territory of 1.9 million sq km and a sea territory of 7.9 million sq km.
Indonesia’s five main islands are : Sumatra is about 473,606 sq km in size, Java 132,187 sq km , the most fertile and densely populated island, Kalimantan or two-thirds of the island of Borneo measuring 539,460 sq km, Sulawesi 189,216 sq km and Irian Jaya (Papua) 421,981 sq km. The other islands are smaller in size.
The island of Java, Sumatra and Kalimantan, together with the small islands in between, stands on the Sunda Shelf which extends from the coast of Indonesia’s land area is generally covered by thick tropical rain forests where fertile soils are continuously replenished by volcanic eruptions like that on the island of Java. The island of Java has 112 volcanic centers of which 15 are active.
